Vintage 14ct gold ring, mounted with a man-made green star sapphire and 20 small diamonds. The stone has a brilliant asterism of a 6-arm star, but I could not capture this in the images. This ring dates circa mid 20th century to 1970s. Face of ring measures 175 mm by 1.55 mm.
The sapphire has a rub-over setting with rhodium plated grain-set surround and twisted wire design edge, and a 4.3 mm tapered band comprising of three round wires. Most unusual and attractive. The stone is oval cabochon cut, approx. 10 mm by 8 mm by 4.5 mm estimated at 6 carats. Light green, translucent, with a good 6-ray star. Very good quality.
The diamonds are single cut, grain-set, approx. 1.4 mm to 1.7 mm, and estimated to total 0.25 carats and be of good commercial quality.
Ring fitting is English size K+ (USA size just under 5.1/2) with an internal diameter of 16 mm.
We have a valuation from 2015 for this ring, giving a Second Hand retail value of NZ$1300.00 and a New Comparison Value of NZ2300.00.
The ring is in excellent condition.
