Vintage insect brooch in the form of a bee or fly. Made circa 1940-50. Measures approx 7/8 inches long; 1 1/8 inches wide (accross wings) and weighs 6.5 grams. Beautifully constructed, largely of 14k gold with delicate engraved detail on the wings. Realistic treatment of the head. Lovely cabochon garnet forms part of the body, adding a deep, rich red lustre and glitter. Hallmarked on the underside of the body 14k SYL and on the fitting 14K. Good condition.
