Openwork gilt silver and amethyst necklace with mixed metal elements. Arts and Crafts late Victorian period - late 19th century. Total length is 18 inches. Fabulous design: Deep purple amethysts set in elegant design, suspended in the center of the necklace. On either side is a chain of round, oval silver openwork beads, intersperced with amethysts, first in pairs and then singly, echoing the larger drop in the center. Gilt is very light, whether originally so, or somewhat worn. The ends of the chain consist of a geometric silver links set with brass. No hallmarks to be seen, which is common for Victorian jewellery. Good condition. No damage to be found.
