Antique Art Nouveau / Egyptian Revival ring. Made of 18carat gold and turquoise. Made circa 1890''s in New York by the Geo. O. Street & Sons company. US ring size 6 1/2. Weighs approx 8 grams. Ring has everything a late Victorian Art Nouveau and Egyptian Revival piece could offer. The shank is in the form of a pair of nude women, long flowing tresses, arms stretched behind the neck. Scrolls on the shoulders lead to a crimped gold outer border of the bezel. The ring is set with a lovely carved turquoise scarab. The raised oval dome of the scarab in perfect proportion to the oval of the top of the gold surround, also approximately an oval, but in the opposite direction, curving around the finger. A great surprise is found when you examine the underside of the scarab: a carved scene taken straight from ancient Egyptian relief sculpture / carving, with a kneeling figure in worship. The ring is hallmarked with an S in an oval. This mark was used by Geo. O. Street & Sons, established in New york in 1837 and famous in the 1890''s for their rings, cameos, fobs etc. The ring is in good original condition.
