Antique / vintage Art Deco brooch made of platinum, jade, diamonds and sapphires. Made by Dreicer & Co., that was sold to Cartier in 1924. Measurements: 1 9/16 (a little over 1 1/2 inches or 41mm ) inches long; jade is approx 5/8 inches (16mm)long; Weighs 8.6grams. Shaped rectangle with circles on either side. Beautifully set diamonds in bands in a classic Art Deco geometric form, with softened corners giving that extra flair. The center is a rounded rectangle of jade - lovely green colour, set with small diamonds and a central blue sapphire. The jade is surrounded by small, round blue sapphires set in filigree silver collettes, the circles echoing the larger round diamond circles on either side of the rectangle. The theme is continued outside the frame of the diamonds, with a pair of round sapphires on either side of the diamond circles. Both from the point of view of artistic design and technical workmanship, the brooch is an outstanding example of Art Deco jewellery, that is extremely beautiful. The pin at the back is signed DREICER & CO. Condition is very good. No damage/restoration of any sort. Dreicer & Co., New York and Chicago 1904-1923 was considered the equal of any French jewellery.
