Lovely oval lava cameo earrings, 19th century. Probably converted from a brooch at some time. They have been suspended from gold posts for pierced ears. Earrings measure 2 cm by 1.7 cm. The cameos are very well carved - beautiful high relief classical female heads. The frames appear to be gold, but could be rolled gold. Excellent condition to face of earrings - the backs show the signs of having been converted, including a few dents in the gold and one little tear.
