Shaped somewhat like a crown this ornate pin immediately conjures images of Imperial Russia. The uppermost section is a semi-circle studded with diamonds, which fans out then narrows to a. central oval shape holding a diamond in the middle: The two 'wings' spread out in a lovely twisting pattern, ending into dual danglers on either side of the central extension. A definite floral motif can be detected, especially in the two 'open flowers' like daisies flanking the semi-circle. Though very elaborate, with its intricate twists and turns, the essential unity is held together by a refined sense of composition and balance. - (FJ.6560)
