European silver gilt filigree brooch with also a pendant bale. Diamond-shaped hand painted portrait miniature on ivory of a woman with upswept hair and a Victorian style off-the-shoulder formal dress. White and blue overpainted highlights to earrings, necklace hair ornaments and lace of neckline. Brooch is stamped 800 (for 800 parts silver) which is a Continental Europe standard, most often German. Item measures 35 mm by 37 mm (1.3/8 inches by 1.7/16 inch).Excellent condition. Gilding still in evidence on the mount around the portrait.
