What a beautiful tazza! Opulent Louis XVI repousse decoration. The plate is divided into three sections; each one elaborately bedecked with scrolling foliate floral elements, including vines and bell flowers. In the center of each a cartouche draws the eye to either a pastoral symbol, or, in one case an oval shield for the placement of a monogram. There is no monogram on this plate, which as always most desirable. The edges are accented with six capitals, there is a band of twining leafs strewn with flowers and buds. The outer rim boasts a helix design. There is more. At the center of the plate is a circular fluted and strapped device with pearl border and floral design in the center. The plate rests upon a raised circular foot. And there is still more! Quite the profusion of decorative embellishments, yet utterly graceful, elegant. Condition is excellent; no flaws to note other than a bit of tarnish on the bottom. Easily enough removed; but the patina is so inviting I don't wish to risk losing it. Spectacular piece, guaranteed to please.
