Little locket with suspension ring - Australian colonial silver, it is stamped on the rear with the words "Sterling Silver" and three boxes, containing an M, an Emu, and a Maltese style cross. The locket may have started out as a dance compact, as it has the front hinging lid and appearance of one of these little compacts. Inside a photo of a man is loosely glued, and there is no mirror in the lid, although some mottled staining suggests there might have been one. Lovely little locket, it measures 39 mm diameter and 10 mm thick (1.1/2 inches by 3/8 inch). A few little dents - one on the face side rim. It has initials in flowing script engraved on the lid - they are worn a bit faint, but possibly read J.A.B.
