Antique flying eagle FIX brooch with a wingspan of 68mm. FIX is a French term for heavily gold applied jewelry items. FIX pieces were made during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco Era from 1890-1920. The reason they marked the pieces FIX is because the gold was so heavily applied that unscrupulous individuals were selling these pieces as solid gold. From the top of the eagles back to the bottom of it's tail it measures 12mm. It looks like it had a ring attached to the eagle's mouth that may have been a dangling diamond or precious jewel there at one time. This could be modified to hold a precious stone.
