Antique vinaigrette in a shell design. Made in Birmingham, England by ML. Hallmarks too worn to read date. Measures slightly over 1 inch in length. Weighs 12-13 grams. Oval shape. The top and bottom surfaces are made to resemble a sea-shell, with fine ridges radiating from the top, increasing in size towards the front with crimped borders between rows. Sturdy hinges holding top to bottom in good shape. Openwork grille with scrolling, beaded Rococo design. Small indentations in the rim facilitate opening the grille. Hallmarks on the rim of the base.
