Antique, Victorian snake brooch. Cabochon turquoise stones set in silver on 12carat gold. Made circa 1840''s. Measures approx 1 3/4inches (45mm) accross. Measures 21.3grams. Snake coiled around itself in a loveknot and symbol of eternity. The body is silver on gold, typical of Victorian jewellery, set with cabochon turquoise gems. The gold head is decorated with engraved scales and has red eyes (believed to be garnets). Forking gold tongue. Secure gold clasp. Good condition.
