Very fine Victorian buckle / belt ring made of engraved yellow gold. Circa 1850 - 1880. Size 7 1/2 - 8 (US) and weighs 8.2 gram. Exceptional workmanship. Ring is made out of a series of rectangles, joined by tiny hinges. The hinges are beautifully hand engraved in very elaborate, detailed patterns, amazingly - each pattern is different to the others. The ring is designed as a belt with a buckle and the front is made with the appropriately shaped parts, reticulated and moving to accommodate themselves to the finger. Not only is the workmanship highly impressive, but the ring looks wonderfully attractive on the finger.
