Antique, Victorian brooch in the form of a crown. 14 carat gold, diamonds, opals and turquoise. Circa 1860 - 1885. Approx 1 5/16inches accross widest part. Weighs 6.2grams. Length of largest turquoise approx 8 mm. Opals approx 4mm in diameter. 27 tiny rosecut diamonds. Beautifully crafted in 14 carat gold with some silver setting for the diamonds. Crown curves gently. Swooping arches end in overlapping foliage set with diamonds, each pair supporting an oval turquoise set in gold colettes with crimped borders. A band of similarly shaped diamond foliage alternates with a pair of lovely opals, with good iridescence and flash. Finally, a narrow band of diamonds provides a sense of perspective. Secure clasp.
