Antique Victorian necklace - yellow gold set with cabochon turquoise. Made in England 1830-1840. 18 inches long. Weighs 48 grams. A variation of the more common snake necklace, the knot is also a sign of friendship and love. Exquisitely made tubular form created from round links set at right angles to each other facing each of the 4 directions and each with a colette set, cabochon turquoise. Made to look like a rope, one side knotted over the other, ending with a wonderful bell/half-globe shaped tassle of gold and turquoise. The clasp, at the opposite end to the knot, is very finely made. Close inspection shows one slightly raised round turquoise stone, which released or snaps the clasp shut. No hallmarks, but at least 15 carat gold. Very good condition. Status: For Sale Reference#: 3969 Condition: good Year: 1860 Title: ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CABOCHON TURQUOISE SET GOLD NECKLACE
