Antique, VIctorian flower-form brooch. Made of 18carat yellow gold, 5 large Siberian amethysts and a pearl. Made circa 1880-1900. Measurements:2 inches long; weighs 27.3grams; Bottom amethyst is approx 18mm long. Size of amethysts: 15.57ct; 15.96ct; 13.64ct; 13.24ct; 20.08ct. Pearl is 4.5mm. Flower-form - the Victorians were particularly fond of the Pansy. 5 deep violet/purple petals made of oval amethysts, seperated from each other by softely textured gold in foliage form. The same kind of foliage forms a ring around a pearl, set in the heart of the flower. Gems are of a fabulous quality as is the workmanship of the entire piece. Due to the weight of the brooch/pendant, there is a double clasp at the back. There is also a loop so that the piece can be worn as a pendant. No hallmarks, but the gold tests for 18k.
