Antique silver teacaddy. Made in the Hanau, Germany during the 19th century. Measures 4 1/2 inches high. 3 1/2 inches accross. Weighs 175grams. Canted corners. Round lid. Beaded borders. The surface of both body and lid with raised Chinoiserie decoration. Figures in fields and landscapes, amidst pagodas, rowing, holding up parasols, dancing - all busy in a variety of activities, amidst scrolls, foliage, flowers and other forms of decoration. Lovely detail - such as the pattern on the Mother's skirt, the tiles on the pagoda and the spokes of the parasol. A series of hallmarks underneath the caddy, include 800 for the silver standard and SR under a crown, used by Simon Rosenau,Hanau, Germany. ANother two marks are too worn to be legible. Good condition - no damage / restoration of any sort found.
