Antique earrings. 14carat gold and amethyst. Made circa 1820-30''s. Measure a tad under 2inches long, not including the earwires. Weigh 10.2grams. Beautiful earrings utilising the natural contrast between gold and amethyst to show off the stones very prettily. Earrings are in the form of a branch of Wisteria or a bunch of grapes with their foliage. The surmount is a simple round gemstone that suspendsa trio of golden leaves and a pair of flowers/grapes. There are 5 similar sections, decreasing in size towards the bottom. Gold leaves have engraved detail. Amethysts are collet-set with closed backs, indicating their early date. Collets with small incised pattern and golden bead at their points. Each section is joined via links to the next, resulting in a great amount of flexibility and movement between them - very sensuous and luxurious in feel and movement. The workmanship is excellent - see ''photos of the backs - indicating a true high-class pair of earrings that has lasted 200 years and will still be an absolute pleasure to wear. Very good condition.
