Antique, Egyptian Revival pendant / mechanical pencil. Probably made 1920's and has a strong Art Deco feel. Closed, the pendant measures approximately 3 1/2 inches long. With the pencil extended, slightly over 4 3/4 inches long. Measurement does not include the ring for suspending the pendant/pencil. Pendant / pencil in the form of a Pharaoh Mummy, probably based on the Tutankhamun boy king, excavated circa 1922. Made of gilt-metal with beautiful enamel enclosed in gold outlines. Very strong Art Deco feel to the stylised figure and patterned design. Both sides are identical (back and front). The base extends a few inches and contains a pencil, in good working order. The loop, suspending the pendant/pencil is marked with an engraved name that looks like AIRTEA, although the first and last letters are not clearly legible. Generally very good condition. A tiny area, visible in the highly magnetised 'photos, has restored enamel, but this is mentioned only in order to be entirely accurate - it in no way impinges on the beauty and elegance of the piece.
