Antique 22carat gold necklace. Made circa 1900 - 1920, South India. Weighs 20.3 grams. Measures approx 25 1/2inches long. Beautiful, old handcrafted beads. Long, faceted barrel-shaped ovals, narrowing at the ends with tiny crimped, flaring, ruffles alternate with pumpkin shaped beads, fluted and with a row of minute granulation stamped on the sides. Made about a hundred years ago by skilled craftsmen. The quality and tiny details of master craftsmen set the old workmanship in a superior category. The Classic elegance of these beads are highly wearable today and will complement any outfit. A modern loop clasp has been added for convenience. The soft patina of a century adds to the allure of the almost pure gold. Very good condition although should be restrung as they are sitting a little tightly packed.
