I am very thrilled to have found this mourning necklace with the last Estate we purchased.Bought this one in Georgia.I believe this is a wonderful old Memento, usually purchased to remember ones vacation aboard. Now days we purchase T-shirts back then it was jewelry. What happened? This became very popular in the mid to late 1800's to wear for times of mourning.Suitable because of the dark colors and very light weight, many women spent most of their lives in mourning for person or the other. The necklace is in very nice condition...but there is a hoop replacement in the front that attaches the locket. This works well and not noticeable to the novice. But you collectors can see.Nice Fix, I will remember this one in the future. The locket is in very nice condition with the exception to where the hinge is on one side has been glued back. Nice job, just wanted to mention in all fairness.Remember this item is almost 200 years old.It is not going to be perfect. It happens. Please take time to view all photos provided.
