Beautiful antique Art Nouveau Elgin hunting case gold filled pendant or pocket watch. The inside of the dust cover is inscribed PRESIDENT 56482. The movement is numbered 7669754 indicating this watch was manufactured in 1898 or 1899. The watch movement is inscribed ELGIN NATIONAL WATCH CO USA SAFETY PINION 7 JEWELS. The watch runs strong and keeps perfect time. It is in mint condition. It has a beautiful pastel blue center face with a subsidiary second hand dial. The watch has a beautiful and extremely well crafted hand chased outer case. The back has a little bird in flight. Even the sides of the case are beautifully hand chased. The front of the case has a shield shaped cartouche with 2 letters that look like LW. These 2 letters could easily be buffed out if one so desired and have their own initials engraved on the case. The watch measures 1-5/8 inches from side to side. From the bottom of the watch to the top of the watch ring it measures 2-3/8 inches.
