For Sale I have a lovely Needle Woven Beaded Bag from the Roaring Twenties. The purse measures 5 1/4" wide at the top and 6 1/4" wide at the bottom. It is 9" long with the fringe and approximately 16" long with the cord. The purse displays an Abstract design with an Indian flavor. There is a wide band in the center of the bag with vibrant colors executed throughout. There is also a 1/2" border at the top and bottom of the the purse to compliment the center design. The center design is elongated honeycomb shaped and alternating colors of each one making this a very complex purse to craft. It was obviously made by a very skilled craftsman or woman. The colors of this Gem are a Turquoise Background with Cobalt and True Blue, Olive and Regular Green, Yellow, Orange/Red and Clear Glass Beads. It has a Gray Drawstring Cord and a Taupe Silk Lining. There are 1" Glass Fringe Beads called an Entwined Fringe that form loops that make up the bottom. The purse is unsigned but made by a Very Skilled Bead Worker. The method in which it is made Requires Bead Counting and the Reading of a Very Detailed Pattern. The Purse is considered to be in Mint Condition as there are no beads missing, no tears, no loose threads and no soiling on the inside of the lining. I don't like to use the word Mint but this Purse's Condition is worthy of this statement. It was probably put in a dresser drawer for that special occasion and appears to never have been used. This purse was made Circa 1920-1929.
