Antique early 20th century circa 1920 Chinese woman’s Costume Coat with matching Pants. A green satin silk coat finely embroidered in satin silk stitch with large branches of various flowers and butterflies. The sleeves have large cuffs skillfully woven in pattern and embroidered with birds, flowers, and butterflies. The cream - colored satin sleeve cuffs finely embroidered with birds among flowering sprigs bordered by black silk bands gauzily woven with butterflies and leafy sprigs of flowers. Secured at the front with its original three green Peking glass rounded buttons. The fourth button is missing. The interior lined in green satin silk of two different woven patterns.
The pants embroidered en suite with the jacket bordered on the bottom by black silk bands gauzily woven with flowers.
DIMENSIONS OF THE COAT: Approximately when placed flat: Length: 73 cm (28 3/4 in), Width (distance from cuff-to-cuff): 131 cm (51 1/2 in).
LENGTH OF THE PANTS: 99 cm (39 in)
CONDITION: in good condition considering its age, and the material from which it is made, showing the age and usage. The interior lining with a few spot of dirty marks, one glass button is missing. There are no holes or applied patches.
