Circa 1890. "Stevengraph" silk picture, made by Anderson Bros of Patterson N.J. This charming scene is titled "Betsy Ross Making the First United States Flag". Silk pictures of this type, where originally made in England starting in 1879, by the Stevengraph company. They rapidly became very popular and were made in both England and the United States and are generically referred to as "Stevengraphs" by collectors. This particular, American made silk picture is in exceptional original condition and has probably spent it's entire existence in a frame. The present frame is vintage, gilded wood, that works well with the picture. 13 1/2" wide x 11 1/2" tall, over-all..
