A stunning antique Berlin woolwork panel, circa 1850, worked with three playful kittens. The panel shows three kittens, two white and one tortoiseshell, playing in a large bowl on a decorative tablecloth with fringing. One kitten wears a ribbon with a bell around its neck and all three are very realistically worked with whiskers and wonderfully mischievous expressions. The panel is stitched to a later card backing.
Dimensions: 10 1/2" x 14" (27cm x 36cm)
Condition: Very good / excellent condition. Very minor (2mm) stitching loss on edge, which would be obscured once framed and is mentioned more for total accuracy. No significant holes or loss of stitching. The colours retain their original strength and the detail is very finely worked.
A wonderful piece.
