This early sampler comes from a New England (Broadbrook, Connecticut) farm house. The work was done in 1838 by Sarah Grimley. There is a lot going on with the alphabet on the bottom, name on top and a myriad of pictorials including carved eagle crest, house, flowers, and trees. There is staining throughout and a little loss in the letter Y in the word year. Overall condition I would rate a B- to C+. The nice old maple frame makes the measurements 17 1/2"x 18". The back has a brown paper over it. A good piece of New England history and Americana.
