A fantastically decorative 19th century sampler, circa 1870, by Agnes Webster, aged 11 years. Agnes has worked her sampler in numerous colours with alphabet and number bands and a rich pictoral composition centred around a large red brick house detailed with pitched roof, chimneys and curtained windows, surrounded by trees, flower baskets and other motifs and songbirds on branches. Mounted in a wooden frame, glazed with gilt fillet.
Measures 23" x 18 1/2" (59cm x 47cm) including frame
The condition is excellent with just a little light foxing only visible under close inspection. The colours are strong and there are no holes or loss of stitching. The frame is also in excellent condition. Ready to hang.
