George III, dated 10th November 1781 1781 Lord''s Prayer Sampler by Dorothy Charge. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and non-reflection glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing. The sampler is worked in a silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral border. Colours red, cream, yellow, greens, orange, blues and pinks. Family initials. Signed and dated ''dorothy Charge Ten.November The. Tent 1781''. A couple of motifs including two cornucopias of flowers and crowns. Good. No holes. A number of patchy stains and uniform age darkening of the ground. Rust spots around the edge where the sampler was previously tacked. Stitch loss to one of the flower motifs. Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven. Frame showing slight wear in one place, otherwise sound and ready to hang. 12.75ins by 10.5ins wide
