Russian silver teapot. Made by J Nordberg, St Petersburg 1856. Measures 9 1/2inches accross and approx 4 1/2 inches high. Weight on postal scale is 1lb 6oz. Squat pumpkin shaped with round, lobed body. Ivory heat resistors in handle and on finial of hinged lid. Botanic theme echoed in the generous thumbpiece of the handle. Beautiful proportions and design. Signed underneath with the following marks:City mark for St Petersberg ; Makers mark I.N in a rectangle for J Nordberg; Assayer A.M A. Mitin over date 1856 and Russian silver standard mark 84. Good condition with no damage/restoration to be found.
