Russian silver 2-handled sugar basin / bowl with lid. Made circa 1880. Measures approx 5 inches tall. Weighs 213g / 7.5oz. Bulbous body on a round, stepped and spreading foot. Chased with a band of foliage in pricked borders, enclosing a vacant cartouche on both front and back. Detachable cover fits well and has conforming decoration. Beautiful finial. WOnderful turned up handles - uniquely Russian in design. The piece is fully hallmarked underneath, on the rim, on the inside of the lid. Very good condition. This item was authenticated by Sothebys.
