Exceptional pair of German Silver candlesticks, done in the 19th Century in the Chinese taste. Measure 12inch high and weigh 1lb 1oz each (2lb 2oz together). Extremely elegant form. Round base, rised conically to the stem which is in elongated baluster form, very Chinese in influence. Small rounded knops near the drip pans. The entire surface is covered with magnificent repousse and chased work done in the Chinese taste with many exotic birds, flowers and scrolling foliage. The bits where the candles fit in are removable for cleaning purposes. Each stick is marked with the German crown and crescent moon, another crown, .800 (the German standard) and the word Germany.
