This is a fine embossed zarf which is quite unusual as most are cast. The decoration is a fine grape and leaf pattern with a nicely balanced raised lower edge. The base is engraved with a cutout pattern at the edge. The pieces both have matching Tughras of one of the late 19thc Ottoman Sultans and the zarf was once gilded the remains of which can be seen on the inside and base.
This is probably the best zarf I have seen and it has a blank shield for inscription of the owner which has however not been used.
The zarf on base stands 2.5in. or 6cm. high and is in excellent condition.
