This is a very nice embossed box.possibly for tea,the inside lined with tin or lead to stop damage.The box is of good dimensions and bears the Tughra on both top and bottom,the bottom one with makers mark and the zig zag pattern not uncommon on Ottoman silver.
The box is in excellent condition bar the loss of a handle at the front an easy exercise to fix.
The round box stands 3in or 7.5 cm. high and has a diameter of 3.5in or 8.5cm.
The tuhgra is that of one of the latte 19thc Sultans.
Tughra marked silver which is genuine is becoming very rare.
