Pristine condition characterizes this lovely Dieppe ivory wax seal. It is on the large side, nearly 4" tall. There is a very decorative silver cartouche attached to the front of the sceau, hand chased. The silver base is hallmarked with the crab silver guarantee; I am unable to make out the numeral between and beneath the claws, so the fineness is indeterminate. The ivory is truly splendid. Sadly, there was a bit of soil on the front that I did not detect until editing the photos, of course! The soil is now gone. The condition is perfect! A rare prize indeed for the collector of antique sceaus!
