Rare antique continental silver snuff box with maker's mark of MK. It has other markings as well near the maker's mark. Please click enlargements to see details of the markings. The case is in very good condition and shows some traces of old gilding to the inside of the box. The bottom of the box also has the MK maker's mark and some other rubbed markings. Silver snuff boxes from the early 19th century are quite rare. This one is particularly nice because of the ornate, decorative engraving on the top, bottom and sides. The box has its original hinge, it opens easily and closes perfectly. Weight 84.3 grams. Length 3 inches. Width 1-3/4 inches. Height 5/8 inch.
