Late 19th Century German .800 Silver chocolate pot or water jug. 9 inches high. Weighs 21 1/2oz. Classic form with Decoration typical Art Nouveau style. Has original heat insulators near top & bottom of handle. Magnificent Moulded and applied rose finial on hinged lid. The front is decorated with outstanding repousse work depicting a large open flower and a number of buds on a sprig. The work is raised in parts and deeper in others with many signs of hand hammering. Very fine detail and exquisite quality and craftmanship. marks : Underneath is a large K.R engraved. The following is impressed:Gebr.Friedlander; hallmark; 800; crescent moon & crown (the Kaiser''s symbols). Good condition with minor surface wear commensurate with over 100 years in existance (look at the ''photos to see they are scarcely visible with the naked eye) and a questionable join of the spout to the body - might be an old restoration and might be original (again, see ''photos).
