Sterling silver teapot. Made London, England 1685. Measures approx 4 1/2 inches high. Total distance front to back is approx 8 1/2 inches. Small bullet shaped teapot. Straight spout that opens like a mouth. Sturdy hinged lid with hinges in good shape, as is finial. Front has an engraved family crest - a bird with a leafy twig in it''s beak. Horn handle is most likely a Victorian replacement, but all other parts are original and in good condition. Marked underneath with the following hallmarks: R (maker); crowned leopard for London, lion passant and date letter h for 1685. Someone has also engraved / scratched an oval with FT in it. I have been informed that the R is attributable to Alexander Roode. Please enquire about our other wonderful teapots and drinking utensils.
