Georgian baluster-form coffee pot in sterling silver, Sheffield, 1814, by silversmith Robert Gainsford. Size: 10.5" ht. x 9.25" across handle x 4.5". Weight: 21.55 troy ounces. Engraved on the side of the body with a family crest of a gauntlet dexter holding a fleur-de-lis. The pot is adorned with bands of gadrooning, and the cast goose neck spout has acanthus leaf decoration; there is a pineapple finial atop the stepped, domed cover. The carved double scroll fruitwood handle is original, with a shell where it attaches to the body of the pot. Condition: excellent, apart from two small dimples above the crest; hallmarks are clearly struck. No repairs or erasures.
