Rare Sheffield Sterling Georgian Candlestick with Snuffer. This is STERLING. First time I have seen a Sheffield candle snuffer in sterling. Many marks on this piece. The base on the bottom side has a mark and on the top side is a crown and a monogram which is hard to make out. The snuffer has the same crown and monogram along with a mark. The bottom of the base also has a mark. This is a fantastic piece and the very first sterling sheffield piece I have ever seen. Fresh to the market. Just picked by a picker on the East Coast of America. He feels the vase where the candle goes in dates 1810-1811. John Roberts Company. The Snuffer he says dates 1816-1817 and the maker mark is not clear. Maybe Smith, Tate & Company. The diameter of the base is 6 1/2" X 5". The center vase/urn/candleholder height is 3 1/4" The snuffer itself is 3 1/2" in height. Condition is Good. Needs a Good Cleaning. This is definetely a important piece at a reasonable price.
