Table napkin clip, made in sterling silver and carrying a British hallmark for Birmingham 1911. Maker is William Vale & Sons.
Clip measures 33 mm by 13 mm diameter at the round clip end. (Napkin clips were made with a hooked end to be fitted over one's collar. There is a silver ring which slides up and down the stem of the clip - the round area opens when the ring is pushed up near the hook - you insert the corner of your napkin between the two discs and push the ring back down the stem. This tightens the two discs together, and hold the napkin securely in place.)
