A unique heavy server for many foods. On the reverse this sterling silver piece has incuse( indented below the surface)marks, the m is the date letter ( c 1869-c.1878). The Olympian pattern was introduced at the Exposition Universelle, Paris, 1878, Pat filed 1878. This is a multi-motif pattern with seventeen different handle decoration designs depicting subjects and stories from classical mythology. The handle on this server shows Paris, the son of Priam, King of Troy, presenting to Venus, the golden apple, he having been called upon by Juno, Minerva, and Venus to adjudge the prize of beauty to the fairest of these goddesses. On the reverse of the bowls is the goddess head. The most costly pattern ever issued by Tiffany.
