What a beautiful, and HEAVY, sterling gravy boat this is! How could this fail to make any dinner table more opulent? The interior is chased with gold. The sauce boat is hallmarked, but difficult to make out. Fortunately a pair of identical sauce boats auctioned at Sotheby's Geneva, November 10, 1987. The maker is noted as Bruder Frank. The decoration, tasteful but elegant, clearly hand cased. The size of this piece is a whopping 9" long, 6" high and 4" at the widest point. (Don't you just hate it when the gravy runs out, and you have to send someone to get it refilled? By the by, I'll be offering a dinner bell of mother of pearl to help with these little bothersome details: keep your eyes out!) This boat weighs in at over 14 troy ounces: weighs nearly a pound of pure sterling silver! Current appraisal is $1,000.00 hammer value.
