Great a la Russe pattern by Henri Gabert, active Paris 1882. There are eleven spoons, one missing alas, in the original fitted box. The pattern is especially nice; quite intricate with a decided Renaissance flavor. The spoons have gilt bowls, both sides. The handle stems boast a criss cross design with floral decorations inside each center. The tips are decorated with stiff leafs, acanthus and a fer de lance type confection with a fine textured ground. Truly a well wrought highly decorative set! Condition is good. There is some gilt loss to one of the spoons. The box, swathed in a luxurious red silk satin interior, has warped a bit through the years. But it is quite functional. Also listing a set of ice cream servers, a la Russe, by Gabert this week. Different pattern; but perhaps close enough that you might not want to miss them.
Dimensions: The spoons are 5.5" long, 1" at the widest and the total silver weight is 155 grams. Marks: maker's punch for Henri Gabert and .800 silver guarantee.
