This rather large asparagus serving piece is highly ornate! A lush Louis XV piece with elaborate and rich detail, Rococo indeed. The handle is sterling silver, with deep relief repousse rocaille, scrolling acanthus, floral and foliate motifs, meticulously hand chased. The service end is not silver: it is gilt and silvered metal etched with a profusion of decorative elements; quite a handsome serving piece!
It bears the Minerve 1st titre on the handle, along with a partially rubbed maker's mark. The poincon has a clear "& Cie"; I believe it the be by Henin, but I cannot guarantee that.
Condition is excellent, very light signs of use. Please see photos for dimensions and marks.
