Extraordinary, rare form - Mephisto / devil''s head, highly appropirate character when relating to fire. Made of solid, sterling silver. Amazing detail from the wavy hair of his pointed beard, to the furrows of his hair, long, pointy ears and high cheekbones. Glass eyes, protruding lips with finely detailed teeth, tiny horns and glass eyes. A button on the fat, hooked nose causes the lid to spring open - held at the back of his head by a secure hinge. Clips tightly closed. Ridges under neck for striking a match. Marked underneath 925 for sterling silver. Very good condition.
