Silver plate cake or bread basket - late 1800s Aesthetic Movement period with very nice engraving of birds, dragonflies and flowers. Swing handle with twist and beaded decoration. Border of leaves to the basket. Maker is James Deakin & Sons, and the mark also includes the letters "EPGS" which stands for electro-plated German silver". Basket measures 31 cm long, 24 cm wide, and with the handle up it is 24 cm high. Basket itself is 7.5 cm high. Excellent condition. Circa 1871-1898.
