Antique Silverplate Serving Dish Circa. 1900 Sheffield plate. Silverplate over copper. Measures 13.5 inches wide, from end of one hand to the end of the other handle. 10.5 inches deep. The dish (or bowl) is 3.25 inches high on 4 feet. The diameter of the dish alone is approximately 11 inches. The shallow bowl has slightly undulating lobes edged with raised, applied scrolls; alternating with flowers. The flower motif continues into the bowl with raised buds and flowers surrounded by etched leaves. There is an unidentified mark on the back, consisting of an H between two sunbursts. There is minor wear in the silverplate on some raised areas, which reveals the copper. This is the condition known as 'bleeding" and is considered desireable by some collectors. In very good condition.
