Early New Zealand colonial period silver plate trophy cup with engraved shields "Champion Prize, Best Mare or Filly in the Yard." this being awarded to W.C. Palmer. Other shield reads: "Tokomairiro Farmer's Club 1885, Presented by Messrs. Inglis & Murray". Tokomairiro is South Island, near Milton. Cup measures 27.5 cm high by 9.5 cm diameter. Very good condition. No dents. Would possibly benefit from a good polish.
